5. Robin van Persie (€30.7m)
As far as Arsenal departures go, not many are remembered quite as vividly as when Robin van Persie left the club in the 2012/13 season.
The Netherlands international striker who is regarded as one of the best Arsenal players of all-time (certainly, he was one of the best to ever play at the Emirates Stadium) is yet another example of an Arsenal captain who tarnished his legacy.
In his first season at Arsenal's bitter rivals Manchester United, Van Persie won the Premier League and he also picked up the Golden Boot in that season. While he played and scored more with Arsenal, he will be mostly remembered for his time with Manchester United since this is where he had the greatest success.
If only Arsenal managed to recuperate some more money, the sale would have been easier to take. Still, there isn't many worse feelings for Arsenal fans than recalling this sale.
