Alan Brazil blasts Mikel Arteta for "waste of money" Arsenal transfer
By Kian Long
Pundits will take any opportunity to shamelessly belittle Arsenal. They've not had much opportunity to do this in recent weeks given the club's superb and flawless form, so of course, they see the Porto loss in the Champions League as an immediate cash-cow.
One pundit who is never shy to back away from voicing his opinion is Alan Brazil. Love him or hate him, part of the reason why he's so successful in his field is because he isn't afraid to be controversial if he believes something to be true.
This time around, though, he probably should've thought his opinion through before voicing it, because it comes across as nonsensical.
Alan Brazil blasts Mikel Arteta for "waste" of an Arsenal transfer
Speaking on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Alan Brazil criticised the summer transfer for David Raya. He's not the first to do this and he certainly won't be the last. In his own words, Brazil said: “I’m sorry, listen, I hate picking on players and I still don’t think he should be in goal, in my own personal opinion. I think it was a waste of money”
Football is a subjective sport, people are entitled to their own opinions - Particularly former professionals like Alab Brazil.
However, David Raya has been an incredible signing for Arsenal. While you can point to the numbers as much as you want, just watching his presence in the box and insane distribution skills is enough to show why Mikel Arteta was right to make him number one.
Regardless, to those who critique David Raya's shot-stopping abilities, I would love for them to name a goalkeeper with more Premier League clean sheets than him this season. I'm all ears, seriously.
The problem which Raya faces is that he is compared to the hindsight of Aaron Ramsdale. The England shot-stopper was one of the best goalkeepers in the league last season and every Arsenal fan loves him for that.

It may seem harsh of me to say, but the best teams in history have made risky decisions to replace some of their best players. After all, even if a change only improves a team by 0.01%, they are still 0.01% better off than if they didn't make the change.
Do you think David Raya was a good transfer for Arsenal?
