Arsenal was held to a 1-1 draw against Brighton at the Emirates after Declan Rice saw red in the second half.

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side can feel a little hard done by after being held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners started at a blistering pace before the visitors grew into the game, but Kai Havertz gave Arsenal a deserved lead after a delicious lob over Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen.

Arsenal would feel good about its first-half work, but that was undone just after the restart in the 49th minute when Declan Rice was sent off for a second bookable offense (a one-yard poke of the ball), which sent the home crowd into a fit of rage.

It was Rice's first career dismissal and just nine minutes later, Joao Pedro netted the equalizer after David Raya saved Yankuba Minteh's initial shot, much to the home crowd's displeasure.

But the Gunners remained resolute and didn't conceded a second as they held on for a point.

Here are three takeaways from Arsenal's draw with Brighton.

Declan Rice to miss North London Derby

The Arsenal midfield ace will be on the sidelines after receiving his first career dismissal thanks to two yellow cards.

Rice picked up his first in the first half, and then an absurd decision to give him a second yellow for "kicking the ball away" meant the Gunners had to play the majority of the second half with ten men.

The Emirates crowd could barely believe what they witnessed.
