Arsenal brought their pre-season to a close on Sunday afternoon with a strong 2-0 win over Lyon in the Emirates Cup.

The Gunners scored twice in the first half to secure the victory over their Ligue 1 opposition, a few days after their outstanding win against Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes did what they do best aside from defending by heading in from corners to seal the win for their side. The two contributed well in defence on the way to keeping the first clean sheet of pre-season and lifting the Emirates Cup.

Here are three takeaways from Arsenal's Emirates Cup win over Lyon.

Arsenal have been incredibly dangerous from set pieces in recent times, having scored 22 goals from set pieces last season, excluding penalties, with 16 of those resulting from corners.

Both of the Gunners' goals came from corners today with both William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes heading in in the first half to secure victory.

Nicolas Jover will continue to work wonders as the club's set piece coach with the start of the 2024-25 Premier League season just a week away. Arsenal will no doubt continue to be a huge threat from set pieces, especially corners, next season, as was shown against Lyon.
