Arsenal's winning start to the season was halted on Saturday afternoon due to a 1-1 draw with Brighton. Despite the result, there were some positive displays on show.

Kai Havertz brilliantly lobbed an onrushing Bart Verbruggen to put the Gunners ahead in the first half. The momentum of the game changed soon after the break when Declan Rice was dismissed for a second yellow card offence. Joao Pedro equalised for Brighton ten minutes after, and despite plenty of pressure from the visitors, Arsenal held out for a draw.

There were three standout performers for Arsenal amid the disappointing result at Emirates Stadium.

Bukayo Saka continued his fine start to the season against the Seagulls. He assisted Kai Havertz's opener after he easily pushed Lewis Dunk off the ball. The assist meant the England international became the first Arsenal player to assist in the first three matches of the campaign since Thierry Henry in the 2004-05 season.

The winger was the only player to continue attacking following Rice's sending off. He was unlucky not to win the game for the Gunners late on when he could not stretch enough to get on the end of a low cross from Havertz. Saka was a consistent problem for the Brighton defence, drawing two fouls throughout the game.

Saka also helped his side out defensively, completing three defensive actions and winning nine duels over the course of the 90 minutes.
