Like fellow attacker Saka, Kai Havertz maintained his good start to the season against the Seagulls. He opened the scoring in the first half with a brilliant lob over Bart Verbruggen after getting on the end of a pass from Bukayo Saka.

The German international dropped back following Rice's send off but almost assisted the winning goal late on. Havertz got on the end of a nice ball from Thomas Partey and played a great low cross into Saka, who could not dispatch the chance.

Havertz played a part in defence when needed, completing four defensive actions throughout the match.
