So much has been asked of Bukayo Saka over the past few years due to his unbelievable footballing ability and the lack of cover for the young star. The likes of Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson have deputised for the winger at times but were nowhere near good enough to do so regularly.

Sterling is capable of playing on both wings and his quality means he can now provide the much-needed cover for Saka without decreasing the overall ability of the team. Fans will no doubt be pleased this issue has finally been attended to.

With more and more being asked of Saka and the threat of serious injury growing greater, signing cover for him had become a necessity rather than a priority so Arteta will be happy to have finally dealt with it. Sterling joins the club as a more than suitable option to cover Saka.
