The Jurrien Timber injury setback is probably the most unfortunate thing to happen Arsenal this season, as they are up there in the title race. The versatile full-back who wowed fans in pre-season went down injured during the first game of the Premier League season and hasn't returned since. However, fans could be treated to his return very soon...
Arsenal handed huge boost with exciting Jurrien Timber injury return date
Speaking to Shots!, journalist and Arsenal expert Chris Wheatley has shared his updated Jurrien Timber injury return date, as he expects the Dutch international to be back in training by the end of the month.
Quoted by TBR: Wheatley said: “We’re expecting [Timber] to be back by the end of the month in full training. It’s a really superb recovery for him after a horrible ACL injury against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season. Great news to see him back, I don’t think there’s pressure for him to start anytime soon, but they are happy to see him back in the squad,”
Hailed as "great news", it really does come as a boost to Mikel Arteta as he nears the title run-in. While there isn't an expectation for Arsenal to lift the title this season, with an improvement in squad depth, anything could happen.
Jurrien Timber was an exceptional summer signing whose presence shouldn't be overlooked. Not only is he excellent at bombing forward, but he could also aid Ben White or Oleksandr Zinchenko, who are two other versatile full-backs, with his colossal defensive presence.
To have Timber back at the end of the month would be excellent but Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be wary about starting him too soon. After a long injury setback, particularly one as detrimental as an ACL, it's best that Timber is eased back into action.
That said, the second-leg at home against Porto in the Champions League is looking extremely tasty and since it's halfway through March, Timber could be up to match fitness by then.
