Smith Rowe excelled when playing on the left side of Arsenal's attack two seasons ago. He netted eight goals and provided two assists in 20 games in that position in the 2021/22 campaign. However, Gabriel Martinelli has become Mikel Arteta's preferred option in that role.

Martinelli had a disappointing 2023/24 season and was made deputy to Leandro Trossard at points. With Trossard almost 30, he will not be performing at the top level for too many years from now, and there will be a gap left in Arteta's team.
