Arsenal are having a very good season so far. Particularly in the 2024 calendar year, Mikel Arteta's side has remained pretty flawless, making great progress in the Champions League and Premier League. As a manager who is proud but never satisfied, the Spanish boss will certainly have big plans for the summer transfer window.

Not to bring up the age-old cliche of Arsenal needing a striker but the countless comments about it are right. Mikel Arteta knows it better than most, so he is expected to be in conversation with Edu Gaspar about a new target man in the summer.

The obvious names such as Ivan Toney are thrown around, but Mikel Arteta will consider many options. Of the list, two Swedish strikers are grabbing the most attention today.

Arsenal are eyeing these two Swedish standouts this summer

According to Football Insider, Arsenal have shortlisted BOTH Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres. The two Swedish countrymen share goal-scoring duties on international duty, to the extent of catching the eye at Arsenal.

It is unlikely that Arsenal will sign both players, despite Isak having the versatility to play out wide if need be. In my opinion, Isak would be the most likely option, with Newcastle United falling short this season and the player being capable of playing Champions League football.

Alexander Isak is one of the best strikers in the Premier League. Certainly, he is the diamond in the rough at St James Park this season, so he could be in line for a new challenge come the 2024/25 season.

From Arsenal's perspective, Alexander Isak is the perfect Mikel Arteta-type player. He is confident with the ball at his feet and he is immensely tall, which would only improve Arsenal's frightening set-piece presence.

The only red flag which screams out to Arteta is Isak's poor injury record, which could be a difference maker. This season, Isak has been missing from the starting lineup a total of 11 times for Newcastle in the Premier League.

Gyokeres, on the other hand, is almost always available. He has a great injury record, starting almost every game for Sporting CP this season. He is also a proven goal-scorer, scoring 22 goals and providing nine assists in 24 Liga Portugal appearances. Therefore, Arsenal are in no position to turn up their nose at either player joining the club.
