Arsenal fall at another WSL hurdle, dropping points against Everton

Arsenal recently played their third WSL fixture of the season. It wasn't the result Jonas Eidevall hoped for, dropping points against Everton on home soil.
The start to this WSL season has not been as fearsome as Arsenal would have liked. Usually, they are a force to be reckoned with but it has been a slow beginning to the season.
On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal hosted Everton. Heading into the fixture, Everton were rock-bottom of the table, not picking up a point in their opening two games.
So, it's fair to say that Arsenal were the favourites. However, it didn't pan out in the expected manner. Despite Arsenal registering 69% possession and 21 shots, neither side hit the back of the net. It was a frustrating match for Arsenal, particularly.

Arsenal failed to capitalise on winning momentum and they have now paid the price. After the weekend, they sit sixth in the WSL table. With Chelsea and Man United yet to play their third match, the gap could look uglier for Arsenal.
Within the next week, Arsenal have some difficult fixtures. They are involved in midweek action, where they travel to play Bayern Munich in the Women's Super League. Then, at the weekend, they host Chelsea in the WSL.
However, it is not all doom and gloom. At the weekend, the second half was much more promising from Arsenal's perspective. They will certainly learn lessons from wasted opportunities going forward.
Arsenal have registered two draws and one win in their opening three WSL fixtures. The positive is that they have yet to lose a match. However, the negative is that they have yet to get a convincing result.
The problem which Arsenal now face is that their main competitors have had a ferocious start to the campaign. So, Arsenal risk falling further behind, if they continue to pick up poor results.
That said, Arsenal do have an opportunity to halt Chelsea's perfect start to the season. Beating the fellow Londoners this weekend would grant Chelsea their first loss, or first points dropped even, this campaign.
