Arsenal plan to be active in the summer transfer window. So far, the window has been nothing short of misery for Arsenal fans as their only piece of transfer business, that involving Benjamin Sesko, fell through. However, fear not, for Mikel Arteta has some plans in mind which could match the excitement of the previous two summer transfer windows.

Needless to say, Arsenal are in need of another option out wide. Preferably, a player who can fill in both off the right and left but if it was narrowed down to one option only, then Mikel Arteta must prioritise a right-winger.

This is because as great as Bukayo Saka is, he needs some help out there. The aim will not be to replace Bukayo Saka but instead to provide sufficient backup, should the Hale End graduate require rest in some of the less important matches or when Arsenal are in cruise control of a game.

Thankfully, a golden opportunity has presented itself to Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar. It's an opportunity they wish to pursue, which will certainly excite Arsenal fans and more than anybody, Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal finally make moves to sign Bukayo Saka backup option

According to DHNet, Arsenal have enquired about signing Johan Bakayoko from PSV. The 21-year-old Belgian international is thought to be on his way out of PSV this summer, with Arsenal being the "number one track."

Bakayoko is currently representing Belgium at EURO 2024. He is currently in competition for a place alongside the likes of Jeremy Doku and Leandro Trossard so understandably, he is yet to make a start at the competition. However, Belgium play their final group stage fixture this evening, which will be the deciding fixture in a tightly-contested group.

Belgium face Ukraine, which is a match that Arsenal fans should be keeping an eye on. It features Leandro Trossard, Oleksandr Zinchenko and now their latest transfer target, Johan Bakayoko.

Last season in Eredivisie, Johan Bakayoko scored 12 goals and provided nine assists, showing that he is the complete package just like Bukayo Saka.

Most of Bakayoko's form came in the second half of the season. In fact, he went on a run of six Eredivisie fixtures whereby he scored a goal in every match.

After the EURO 2024 competition, Bakayoko will be free to contemplate his future. However, Arsenal are trying to get a head start, by getting in contact over a potential deal for him.
