I am fully aware that the last club Arsenal fans want to read about right now is Bayern Munich. It becomes even worse when you add a sprinkle of Tottenham into that pie but unfortunately, this transfer story is relevant to Arsenal.

According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham would like to sign Serge Gnabry from Bayern Munich. It is believed that Bayern Munich are willing to part ways with the former Arsenal man in the summer as they look to rebuild the squad amid a transitional period under their new head coach.

Should the deal go ahead (it has not yet entered any concrete stage, just interest at this stage) then Serge Gnabry would become the 16th player to represent both North London clubs.

From an Arsenal perspective, it would be a shame to see. Serge Gnabry was tipped to become a top Arsenal player but he left to join Bayern Munich. It goes without saying that he has become one of the best players in the world since returning to his home country.

In terms of experience in English football, Serge Gnabry does not boat the most lucrative CV in that regard. Gnabry appeared in just 11 English league matches (with Arsenal AND West Bromwich Albion on loan).

Gnabry is now 28 years old so the vision of him spending his best years at Tottenham is not a sight Arsenal fans envisioned when he first left the club.

However, it's fair to say that this campaign has been an underwhelming one for Serge Gnabry. He scored an important goal against Arsenal recently but other than that, his season has been plagued by injury and so, he's never truly had a firm grasp on the Bayern Munich starting lineup, hence their willingness to sell.

A question which this raises is whether or not Arsenal should sign him. After all, he has experience working alongside Mikel Arteta as they both played for Arsenal around the same period.

However, I do not think it would be a good idea for Arsenal to sign Gnabry, even if it were only to prevent Tottenham from getting him. There is no place in the squad for Gnabry as the left-wing position is already stacked with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Besides, it pains me to say, but he already showed a lack of loyalty.
