Arsenal will soon be back in action, for their pre-season tour of the USA. Whilst out in the States, they will face Bournemouth, Manchester United and Liverpool. Arsenal injury news as two key defenders miss USA pre-season tour

The standout exclusions from the Arsenal side come in the form of two defenders. As per their published squad list, both Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are missing from the group of players who have travelled to America.

As per Fabrizio Romano on X, the reason why both players are missing from the squad is simple, due to injury. Takehiro Tomiyasu cannot make the squad because he has a knee problem, so he will remain in London to have it seen to before the season commences. For Tierney, it is a hamstring injury which restricts him from travelling with Arsenal.

Both players could be on the Arsenal sale list this summer. Admittedly, if one of them were to leave, it is more likely to be Kieran Tierney. The Scotland international was out on loan last season and the team seems to have upgraded without him in the mix. It is a sad reality but Mikel Arteta doesn't value him as a member of the starting lineup going forward.

Takehiro Tomiyasu saw more minutes last campaign, particularly in the first half of the season. However, a mixture of international duty and nursing an injury prevented the Japan international from staking a consistent claim in the starting lineup. Still, he remains a valuable squad player for the upcoming season, so ideally fans would like him to stay at the club.
