It should come as no surprise to Arsenal fans that the Gunners have been linked to Leroy Sane over the last few days. His exceptional performance in the Champions League quarterfinal to one side, Mikel Arteta knows Leroy Sane well from their time together at Manchester City. In fact, Arteta is accredited heavily, by Sane himself, for the development of his playing style.

In April, Sane said (via The Mirror): "I made huge improvements under [Arteta], he gave that to me. I still keep that in my mind and put that in my game – positioning, how to behave in certain positions. I’m thankful"

Now, Leroy Sane is placed on a pedestal as the logical Nico Williams transfer alternative, with the Spaniard more likely to join Barcelona than Arsenal. Needless to say, Arsenal will be aware of Leroy Sane and Mikel Arteta is likely in favour of bringing him to North London - But does the interest go both ways?

According to Sky Sports Germany, the answer is no. The interest is completely one-sided, as Arsenal would like to sign Leroy Sane, but Leroy Sane would like to re-sign with Bayern Munich instead. Still, the player is yet to tie down his future so until the final verdict is made, Arsenal will be monitoring Sane's situation, with hope for the best.

Leroy Sane is dynamic, direct and versatile. He can play on both flanks, which would be an incredible pull factor for Mikel Arteta, who clearly values this in his ideal players. Sane can even play through the middle if required, but his rapid speed is better suited to playing out wide.

Arsenal have already announced the signings of David Raya and Tommy Setford in goal and Riccardo Calafiori in the defence. Therefore, their attention could now naturally switch to the midfield and attack.
