Kieran Tierney is set to return to Arsenal from his season-long loan at Real Sociedad. Despite the Spanish side looking unlikely to activate the buy option clause included in the deal, the Scotland international is still expected to leave the Gunners.

Since the introduction of Oleksandr Zinchenko to the team, Tierney has fallen out of favor at Arsenal and is in search of regular first-team football. Fabrizio Romano reported that the club would discuss solutions with the left-back upon his return from Sociedad.

With an exit looking likely, Tierney will have plenty of interest this summer, but three specific clubs could sign the left-back.

Aston Villa's manager, Unai Emery, was the one who brought Tierney to Arsenal in 2019, so this could be a factor that prompts both sides to pursue the potential move. Emery is said to want a new left-back to provide competition for Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno, one of whom could potentially leave the Villains during the transfer window.

A move to Aston Villa would mean remaining in the Premier League for Tierney and also a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League. It would also give him the chance to play under a manager he has previous affiliations with.
