3. Unai Emery

Emery gave it his best shot but it was always going to be hard being the first post-Wenger manager at Arsenal. He had a big coat to fill but unfortunately for the Spaniard, he was not given the right resources to fill it.

Emery took charge at the Emirates Stadium in 2018 and it was a promising first season as he took Arsenal to fifth place in the Premier League and to the Europa League final (the less said about the final, the better). However, Emery was dismissed in November of the following season, only lasting a season and a half at Arsenal.

Emery has found success since he left Arsenal. He went onto lead Villarreal to the Europa League trophy and even managed to secure European football for Aston Villa who qualified for Europa Conference League at the end of the 2022/23 season.

In my opinion, this is a very real example of "right manager at the wrong time."
