Arsenal have officially signed their first player of the 2024 summer transfer window and it was a transfer which was waiting to happen. After an impressive season on loan, he is now a permanent Arsenal player and fans can now await an official statement from the club.

It is a deserved transfer. As mentioned, David Raya has impressed during his first season with North London side Arsenal. It takes a lot to upgrade Aaron Ramsdale but the Spaniard stepped up and made it an easy decision for Mikel Arteta (despite the obvious criticism the decision was initially met with).
In his first season as an Arsenal player, David Raya won the golden glove award for the Premier League, a prestigious honour for any goalkeeper, let alone their debut season). He made Arsenal a difficult team to break down once again, particularly in the away games surprisingly. David Raya made a total of 16 Premier League clean sheets, securing the golden glove award early into the campaign.
This is even more impressive considering he missed the start of the season and of course, could not play against Brentford. He pipped Everton's Jordan Pickford to the post.
Next season, Raya will only hope to improve on this tally. He is a player who clearly sets a high standard of himself, hence why he has seamlessly made the step up from Brentford to Arsenal this season, making it look easy.
It is almost impossible to mention David Raya without bringing up Aaron Ramsdale. Both players are representing their respective countries at EURO 2024 this summer, with David Raya already making more appearances for Spain than Ramsdale has for England.
Ramsdale is a player who Arsenal fans understandably hold close to their hearts. After all, the Englishman became an embodiment of the club and throughout the 2022/23 season, was a reason why Arsenal genuinely competed for the title and qualified for the Champions League for the first time since Arsene Wenger was in charge.
It remains to be seen what happens with Aaron Ramsdale's future but one thing which can be said for sure is that David Raya is now a permanent Arsenal player.
