It's not just Euros fever capturing the footballing world this summer, there's a Copa America to be played, too!

Euro 2024 is probably well underway by the time you're reading this, with 24 nations convening in Germany in a bid to be recognised as the continent's supreme force.

Things aren't quite so clear cut geographically over in the Americas, with the Copa America's expansion to 16 teams meaning that it's no longer a CONMEBOL-dominated tournament. Six from CONCACAF are involved as well.

Arsenal's impressive representation at Euro 2024 has already been discussed, but, despite Edu Gaspar's links, the Gunners aren't exactly laden with stars from the Americas.

How many Arsenal players are competing at 2024 Copa America?

Arsenal have just four players eligible for the 2024 Copa America, of which two will be competing in the USA this summer.

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel have both been called up to Dorival Junior's squad for the upcoming tournament, although neither are expected to play prominent roles.

Despite his superb 2023/24 campaign, Gabriel is behind to likes of Marquinhos, Gleison Bremer and Lucas Beraldo in the centre-back pecking order. As for Martinelli, his bright cameo in Brazil's pre-tournament 1-1 draw with the USMNT may have aided his chances, but the Arsenal winger, who endured a tough season, is competing with the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Raphinha, and the emerging Savio for minutes.

Gabriel Jesus, having barely featured during the second half of the season, wasn't called up, while Marquinhos is a million miles away from national team consideration.

Brazil, one of the pre-tournament favourites, have been placed into a competitive Group D alongside South American rivals Colombia and Paraguay, as well as 2014 World Cup surprise package Costa Rice. The Selecao aren't expected to have it all their own way throughout the group stage, but should both they and Argentina win their respective groups, the great rivals will be expected to meet in the final on 14 July.
