Kieran Tierney - £4.5m

Kieran Tierney, at £4.5m, is Arsenal's cheapest defender in the game and, unfortunately, there is good reason for this.

Firstly, the Scotsman is expected to be sold, or possibly loaned out again, this summer, and even if he stays with the Gunners, he simply is not going to play enough to warrant owning him. His only saving grace in FPL terms would be a transfer to another Premier League club.

Jakub Kiwior - £5m

Jakub Kiwior is more likely to play than Tierney but is still clearly not the first choice for Mikel Arteta and is also among those who could be sold this summer, with strong interest from Italy.

Given his £5m, it would take an incredible showing in pre-season to warrant selecting the Polish full-back in FPL.

Takehiro Tomiyasu - £5m

While it is not expected that Takehiro Tomiyasu will be sold this summer, he is still not a viable option for FPL, with Ben White the clearly established starter at right-back.

While an injury elsewhere in the squad, which we obviously hope does not happen, could see the Japanese defender's stock rise in the game, it would be ill-advised to select him from day one.

Oleksandr Zinchenko - £5m

On paper, Oleksandr Zinchenko looks to be the cheapest way to buy into the Arsenal defence in FPL, given that he was the first-choice left-back for much of last season.

Despite this, his minutes are far less guaranteed than more expensive options - especially given the rumoured impending arrival of left-sided defender Riccardo Calafiori.

Jurrien Timber - £5.5m

In the little that we have seen of Jurrien Timber, he looks to be a very attacking fullback, which could reap massive benefits for his owners in FPL.

But after missing almost an entire season, and with it unclear whether he will actually now start for Arteta, it would definitely be advisable to hold out before opting to roll with the Dutch defender.

Gabriel Magalhaes - £6m

Gabriel Magalhaes was one of the most-owned players in FPL last season, and with very good reason.

In a defence that kept the cleanest sheets in the league, Gabriel also scored four goals, adding to his points tally with these attacking returns - making him a valuable asset in FPL. He has undergone a price rise in this year's game, but remains one of the most appealing options in defence.

William Saliba - £6m

A very similar option to Gabriel, William Saliba was one of the most-owned defenders in all of FPL last season, helped by his regular defensive returns.

Though he is an expensive option, you can expect to see him in plenty of teams this year, with his owners hoping that he can build on his three goal involvements from last season too.

Ben White - £6.5m

Ben White comes at a premium compared to other Arsenal defenders and is the joint-second most expensive defender in the game, but could reap massive rewards for those who take a chance on him.

The Englishman looks nailed on to start most, if not all, games, and registered eight goal involvements last season. He will likely be lesser-seen than other Arsenal defenders in FPL this season, but that could make him a great 'differential' option.
