Joshua Kimmich could leave Bayern Munich this summer and Arsenal are one of five possible destinations, according to reports.

The Gunners will get a close-up glimpse of Kimmich next month as the two clubs face off in the Champions League quarter-finals. The winners of which will face either Real Madrid or Manchester City in the last four.

A big summer lies ahead for Mikel Arteta no matter how the 2023/24 season concludes. Arsenal have a tough path in their quest for continental glory, but they have a good a chance as any to end the campaign as Premier League champions.

Midfield is an area the club will seek to bolster ahead of the 2024/25 season, with the futures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho uncertain.

Kimmich has been a defining figure for Bayern in recent years, but 2023/24 has been a turbulent season for the German international. His relationship with Thomas Tuchel, who's leaving in the summer, has constantly come under scrutiny, with both dismissing claims of a broken partnership.

Nevertheless, Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg writes that both Bayern and Kimmich are open to parting ways at the end of the season.

The versatile midfielder's contract in Bavaria expires in 2025, and talks are yet to progress over an extension. Thus, to avoid losing the player for free, Bayern could aim to sell Kimmich this summer.

Plettenberg adds that Arsenal are one of five potential destinations for Kimmich. Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the others.

While the player has struggled to hit his majestic 2019/20 heights in recent campaigns, Arsenal will surely test the Kimmich waters this summer given their supposed interest in Martin Zubimendi. Kimmich boasts the versatility to play a variety of roles in Mikel Arteta's ever-evolving system, with the club poised to identify a potential long-term partner for Declan Rice. The German's playmaking ability from deep areas could be hugely important against deep-lying defences, while Arteta's stringent framework will hide his struggles in defensive transition.

Let's see how much Bayern want for the 29-year-old.
