Raheem Sterling 'Incredible piece of business' For Arsenal
By Adam Schultz
Arsenal signed Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling on loan on deadline day, and Danny Murphy loves the acquisition of the Premier League title winner for Mikel Arteta's squad.
Arsenal didn't get the striker that many were clamoring for on transfer deadline day, but the club did make a shrewd signing of Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling on loan.
With such a reliance on Bukayo Saka last season, Arteta knew he needed to get some depth behind him and Raheem fits the bill.,
Having already won the Premier League with Manchester City, Sterling will bring a wealth of experience to Arteta's squad, and being just 29 years old, the winger still has plenty left in the tank.
In his column for the Daily Mail, Danny Murphy detailed why Arsenal's signing of Sterling has gotten his tick of approval.
"Arsenal signing Raheem Sterling is an incredible piece of business," Murphy wrote. "He’s a winner, a four-time league champion. He isn’t going to be phased by the size of the club and the level of expectancy from the fan base."
Sterling's signing does follow a similar path for the Gunners of late - getting a veteran player who can come in and make an impact. Leandro Trossard was that kind of signing for the Gunners and he has proven to be worth it (if he doesn't start).
Last season for Chelsea, Sterling scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in the league from his 31 games. Now, that's not outstanding, but its serviceable and the Gunners would like a similar return.
On face value is does seem like a good piece of business for Arsenal, but time will tell if the loan move was truly worth it.
