Arsenal are not strangers to signing players from their rival teams. In recent transfer windows, they have acquired the likes of Declan Rice, Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kai Havertz, Jorginho and Leandro Trossard from Premier League teams. So, it comes as no surprise to see today's Arsenal transfer news involving a Manchester United player.

However, this time around, said player will have to look elsewhere from Arsenal, since the Gunners are not interested...

Arsenal reject the chance to save Manchester United’s flop career

That's right. According to a report from Express, Manchester United chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been dealt a big blow by Mikel Arteta, who is not interested in signing Jadon Sancho. This now leaves Man United back at square one, since they still need to sell Jadon Sancho, who is unsettled following his tiff last season with Erik ten Hag.

Admittedly, it would have been a signing which came out of the blue from Arsenal. As far as fans are aware, the club has never shown an actual interest in signing Jadon Sancho. Tabloid papers will of course have reported on it at one stage but such is the nature of the sport, fans know to take tabloid talk with a pinch of salt.

Jadon Sancho to Arsenal is a move which would make little to no sense. While he can play as a right-winger, he is primarily deployed on the left. This is his strongest position and arguably, the position which Arsenal need to strengthen the least in the summer transfer window.

At left-wing, Arsenal already have two top-quality players in Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli competing for a spot. This is a nice problem to have but for Mikel Arteta, throwing a third spanner into the works would only complicate matters, so he is better off looking elsewhere from Jadon Sancho.

If Arsenal were to strengthen their attack this summer, it would need to be a right-wing signing as someone who can provide backup to Bukayo Saka. Then, of course, they would like to sign a centre forward, but this isn't an immediate priority for Mikel Arteta, who has proven to be a big fan of Kai Havertz.

So, in short, Arsenal fans should not be surprised by this. While Mikel Arteta has been known to save careers, Sancho is not in that list. As impressive as Sancho has been with Borussia Dortmund on loan, it isn't enough to mess around with the Arsenal starting lineup.
