Talk about a last-minute arrival!

The pitchforks have been (momentarily) set aside by Arsenal fans as, after much soul-searching, the club pursued a late frontline deal on Deadline Day and secured the services of Chelsea man Raheem Sterling.

He is far from our no. 1 wide target, and even the thoughts of a Kai Havertz/Gabriel Jesus/ Raheem Sterling attacking triumvirate is enough to make anyone break out in a cold sweat (oh, just imagine the wastefulness up top!).

However, a 29-year-old, short-term acquisition with vast Premier League experience and a modest financial package is much better than no offensive signing at all (which looked likely for much of the final day).

It seems that other, preferred names were not for sale (e.g. Nico Williams, Benjamin Sesko) and so Arsenal had to compromise. Sterling can certainly hold the attacking fort for now.
