Arsenal will take on Portuguese side FC Porto in the Champions League round of 16.
The draw took place in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday morning following the conclusion of the group stage on Wednesday.
The Gunners, competing in the competition for the first time since 2016/17, topped a relatively tame Group B despite drawing in Eindhoven on Tuesday night. Mikel Arteta's side won the group having won four of their six games.
Arsenal to play FC Porto in Champions League round of 16
Porto were the first unseeeded team out of the draw, and they were paired with Arsenal. The Gunners avoided the likes of Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter.
Porto finished second behind Barcelona in Group H and are regular participants in the Champions League knockout stages. The Gunners have faced the Portuguese side six times in their history, winning three of the meetings. The two sides met in the round of 16 back in the 2009/10 season and Arsenal cruised to a 6-1 aggregate win after losing the first leg in Porto 2-1.
The Portuguese giants have played 46 competitive games against English clubs, winning just nine. Both Chelsea and Liverpool have taken on - and beaten - Sergio Conceicao's side in recent years on their way to the Champions League final.
While Conceicao's side can be stubborn opposition and tough opponents on home soil, it's draw Arsenal supporters should undoubtedly be content with. The Gunners have a great chance of progressing into the round of 16.
Round of 16 ties will be played over two legs on 13/14 & 20/21 February and 5/6 &12/13 March 2024.
