Arsenal are in Saturday lunchtime action this weekend as they welcome Brighton to the Emirates.

These two make up half of the Premier League sides to maintain a 100% record through two games in the 2024/25 campaign. Arsenal were far from their best for a large chunk of last weekend's clash at Villa Park, but they took control of the contest after taking the lead and eased to a huge 2-0 win.

Mikel Arteta's side are yet to hit top gear, but have toppled a pair of tricky West Midlands opponents to begin what many hope is a prosperous season.

Brighton are no strangers to winning at the Emirates, but they were twice blown away by Arteta's side last season. However, the Seagulls appear emboldened with young German manager Fabian Hurzeler at the helm, and they've started the new season with an emphatic win at Everton and last-gasp triumph over Manchester United.

They represent another tough test for the Gunners, who'll be hoping to move to the top of the table - even if only briefly - with a convincing victory on home soil.

Arsenal vs Brighton Head-to-Head Record

Brighton had emerged as a bit of a bogey team for Arteta's Gunners, with the Seagulls winning three times at the Emirates since 2021. Arsenal have generally had more success at the Amex, although they secured a pair of victories over Saturday's opponents last season. Their 2-0 win before Christmas in north London was among the club's finest performances of the 2023/24 campaign.

  • Arsenal Team News

Arsenal welcomed a new addition in Mikel Merino ahead of Saturday's game, but the Spanish midfielder is unlikely to come straight into Arteta's starting XI. He should come off the bench for his Premier League debut, though.

Riccardo Calafiori is hoping to make his first league start after making his Premier League bow at Villa Park, but Arteta is more likely to retain the faith in Jurrien Timber at left-back.

Leandro Trossard made an immediate impact off the bench last weekend and deserves to come into the lineup at Gabriel Martinelli's expense.

Gabriel Jesus is a doubt with a groin injury, while Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu are both out for the hosts.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Brighton: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Havertz, Trossard.

    Brighton Team News

The Seagulls have added Matt O'Riley and Ferdi Kadioglu to their ranks ahead of Saturday's game, but O'Riley is unlikely to feature for his Premier League debut after picking up an ankle injury during Brighton's Carabao Cup win over Crawley Town.

Jack Hinshelwood will likely keep his place over new signing Kadioglu at left-back, although Hurzuler could use the Turkish international in a myriad of roles.

Solly March is out of action until October with a knee injury.

Predicted Brighton lineup vs Arsenal: Steele; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Hinshelwood; Gilmour, Baleba; Minteh, Pedro, Mitoma; Welbeck.

    Arsenal vs Brighton Score Prediction

Brighton are a fun watch, but you need more than fun to beat this Arsenal side. While the Gunners lack an elite transitional threat, the Seagulls' high defensive line and inability control the transition should see the hosts run amok at times this weekend.

Arsenal have merely been efficient to start the new season, but I'm backing them to go up a gear on Saturday. Brighton will pose issues in possession given Hurzeler's build-up principles and the talent they boast in attacking areas, but the hosts are going to enjoy much of Saturday's contest and earn their third win of the campaign.

    Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Brighton
