Arsenal vs Wolves: Preview, Prediction, Lineup & How to watch on TV
- Arsenal's 2024/25 Premier League campaign starts on Saturday
- Wolves visit the Emirates having over-achieved last season
- Gunners can afford no early slip-ups
Arsenal's 2024/25 Premier League season gets underway on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Wolves to the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta's side are gunning for the league title having pushed Manchester City all the way in back-to-back campaigns. They were two points adrift last term having recorded their highest points tally in 20 years.
The margin for error is very slim against this City side, and Arteta will know his team can ill-afford any early slip-ups. The hosts enter the contest having secured a pair of home pre-season wins, but Wolves have also enjoyed a productive summer.
Gary O'Neil's side certainly over-achieved last season as they secured safety without breaking a sweat, but they ended 2023/24 poorly and some are projecting a struggle this time around. Saturday's visitors are excellently-coached, however, and they will undoubtedly test Arsenal on the opening weekend.

Arsenal Team News
Jurrien Timber is back in training having recovered from a foot injury, but the Dutchman is more likely to earn minutes off the bench this weekend. New signing Riccardo Calafiori is also unlikely to start after Oleksandr Zinchenko's pre-season.
Fabio Vieira is a doubt with a hip injury, while Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu are both out for the foreseeable.
Thomas Partey should start at the base of midfield, with Leandro Trossard getting the nod down the left.
Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Wolves: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Odegaard, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Trossard.
Wolves Team News
Wolves have lost Pedro Neto to Chelsea, but O'Neil did get used to mitigating for the winger's absence last season.
While there's been talk of the Wolves boss eventually altering to a back four, that change is unlikely to arrive this weekend. We should see the visitors set up in a 3-5-2 with Hwang Hee-Chan partnering Matheus Cunha up top.
Nelson Semedo is suspended after picking up a red card on the final day of last season. Wolves are also without injured pair Sasa Kalajdzic and Enso Gonzalez. New signing Jorgen Strand Larsen is a doubt.
Predicted Wolves lineup vs Arsenal: Sa; Mosquera, Dawson, Toti; Doherty, Lemina, Doyle, Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Hwang, Cunha.
Arsenal vs Wolves Score Prediction
I like Wolves and I'm backing them to over-achieve again, but I suspect it'll take some time for O'Neil to get this side playing at its apex in Neto's absence. They've lost a key outlet, and Arsenal are unlikely to be troubled much on Sunday, although I do think the visitors could make things tough for the hosts early on.
However, given Arsenal's ambitions this season, Saturday's game they simply have to win. The Emirates will be expecting three points to open up the season, and their performances to close out pre-season suggests they're ready to deliver against Wolves.
Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Wolves
