Bukayo Saka's departure from the England camp due to injury has raised concerns over his fitness ahead of Arsenal's crucial fixtures towards the end of the season.

The 22-year-old winger was initially called up by England manager Gareth Southgate for the upcoming friendly matches against Brazil and Belgium. However, Saka will play no part in either fixture, having left the camp before the matches commenced.

The Football Association (FA) confirmed Saka's departure in a brief statement, explaining that the Arsenal forward reported to St. George's Park with an injury that prevented his participation in training. Consequently, no replacement has been planned as England's 25-man squad continue their preparations for the upcoming internationals.

"Bukayo Saka has left the England camp and returned to his club for continued rehabilitation The Arsenal forward reported to St. George's Park with an injury and has been unable to participate in training," the FA wrote.

"No further replacements are planned as a 25-man England squad continue their preparation for the forthcoming internationals with Brazil and Belgium."

Depending on the severity of Saka's injury, Arsenal may view this development as a relief, as it potentially reduces the risk of him aggravating the injury during international duty, especially considering the critical stage of the campaign.

Saka is not the only Arsenal player to return to London with injury concerns, teammate Gabriel Magalhaes had already withdrawn from the Brazil squad due to injury concerns.

Several Arsenal players have chosen not to join their national teams and have instead stayed at the club's London Colney training base. Among them are the Brazilian trio of Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus, who have all decided to remain in North London. While Ben White declined an invitation to be included in the England squad.

The Gunners return to action on 31 March as they travel to Manchester City for a pivotal fixture in the Premier League title race.
