Arsenal star Kai Havertz scored a second-half brace and Mike Arteta hailed the German's performance as unbelievable.

Title statement sent. Chelsea statement...made?

Arsenal's Kai Havertz came back to haunt his former team as his second-half brace helped propel the Gunners to a 5-0 demolition of their London rivals that sees them extend their lead at the summit of the Premier League...albeit briefly.

After Leandro Trossard opened the scoring inside five minutes, it was then a tight and tense affair as Arsenal went into the break a goal up. However, the second half saw the Gunners slam home four goals in a brutal 13-minute display, with Havertz and Ben White both netting twice.

For Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, he was pleased for Kai to produce such a performance when the team needed him to.

"He was unbelievable in all departments and obviously when you have a nine score two goals the way he scored, his contribution was great and a question about scoring against Chelsea for him, but I’m sure he’s very pleased," Arteta said via arsenal.com.

Havertz's brace sees his tally for the season bump up to 11 in 33 appearances, while also grabbing five assists. What will also make this extra sweet for Kai is that it happened against his former team.

With the win, Arsenal now opens up a nice gap at the top of the league, with Liverpool and Manchester City still to play, the Gunners have now put the pressure back on both to get positive results in their next fixtures.

This game was crucial in the context of Arsenal's season and with the north London derby up next, a win vs. Chelsea was paramount to keep the good momentum going.

With the second-half curb-stomping of Chelsea, Arsenal will now look forward to the challenge of Tottenham at the weekend, all the while having an "unbelievable" Kai Havertz ready to add to his goal-scoring tally.
