The summer transfer window is finally entering boiling point territory. In truth, this summer has felt slow in comparison to others. Arsenal know this better than most, since most of their own transfer window has centred around player exits. Well, they could be set to lose yet another Hale End graduate in the coming weeks, if all goes to plan.
Mikel Arteta has already bid farewell to Emile Smith Rowe. For Arsenal fans, this was a particularly sad departure to witness, considering he was a fan favourite and had aspirations of becoming a club legend.
Unfortunately, a player who broke through at around the same time as ESR could soon leave Arsenal. However, it's a decision which likely benefits all parties involved.
Bournemouth target Arsenal star after Tottenham’s latest transfer
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Bournemouth are keeping an eye on Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal. Nketiah is viewed as an option to replace Dominic Solanke, a Bournemouth club legend who recently made a move to the club who shan't be named.
Eddie Nketiah missed out on a move to Marseille, after the deal collapsed. Essentially, the French club were not willing to meet Arsenal's valuation, so now they are looking at other options.
However, Nketiah is still believed to be keen on moving away from Arsenal before the summer transfer window ends. If he is to complete a move to another European side, it should be completed before the deadline on August 30, 2024 at 11 PM BST.
From Arsenal's perspective, they will have learned a lot from their negotiations with Marseille. However, naturally they will be less inclined to reach a compromise with Bournemouth. After all, it could come back to bite the Gunners in the backside, if Nketiah scores even one goal against them in the Premier League.
Still, they shouldn't block a move for Nketiah. After all, Mikel Arteta cannot promise Eddie game-time to any reasonable capacity. Arteta likes Eddie but it would simply be a unobtainable promise, given the talent within the squad.
