Mikel Arteta is confident that both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli will be fit to play against Brentford on Saturday evening.
Arsenal take on the Bees knowing that a victory will see them climb to the top of the Premier League table before the monster clash on Sunday between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield.
While they currently sit third in the table, many would argue that the Gunners are currently the best-performing team in the division having won their previous seven league encounters by an aggregate score of 31-3.
They were in a rampant mood yet again on Monday night as they thrashed Sheffield United 6-0 at Bramall Lane, but they did finish the game without wingers Saka and Martinelli, who were forced off for different reasons.
Bukayo Saka & Gabriel Martinelli injury updates ahead of Brentford clash
Arteta revealed that Saka was withdrawn at half-time of Monday's game due to illness, with the winger feeling under the weather leading up to the game. The Englishman, however, performed superbly in the first half, recording two assists as he terrorised Sheffield Utd's left-sided defenders.
Martinelli, meanwhile, took a knock to the ankle in the second half and hobbled off. The issue was described as a "cut" by the boss, with the Brazilian avoiding any major damage.
As a result, the pair are expected to be fit to play this weekend.
Asked in his pre-match press conference about Saturday's team news, Arteta responded with: “Not much , we have got some players back last Monday then we had Martinelli and Bukayo with some little issues. We are pretty positive that they can be a part of that but we will have to see.”
So, barring any unforeseen setbacks, Saka and Martinelli are set to play on Saturday. Arsenal also have a mammoth Champions League encounter next Tuesday against FC Porto where the Gunners need to overturn a 1-0 deficit to advance into the quarter-finals.
