Riccardo Calafiori is known to be at the top of the Arsenal transfer shortlist. However, whether or not Mikel Arteta will actually end up getting his man is a different story. Arsenal have seen the same tale happen over and over again, so fans will not be content until the transfer is wrapped up and Riccardo Calafiori is officially announced as a squad player.

That said, updates from the most reliable transfer expert in the business Fabrizio Romano do come as a welcomed boost for Arsenal fans. After all, Riccardo Calafiori is a wanted player, not just by Mikel Arteta, but most of the fanbase.

According to an update from Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are planning to use Jakub Kiwior as part of the deal. However, Kiwior is not completely sold on the idea of joining Bologna, since he does have transfer interest elsewhere in Serie A. Either way, Arsenal remain interested in signing Riccardo Calafiori, and they will allow Jakub Kiwior to leave this summer, on loan with an option to buy.

Jakub Kiwior's case in an Arsenal shirt is a strange one to analyse. He has gone through periods of great potential, then seemingly finding his way in the Arsenal starting lineup, only to be benched again towards the end of last season.

Admittedly, Kiwior did only make the team due to Oleksandr Zinchenko's injury and Takehiro Tomiyasu's international duty but over time, he began to make more and more mistakes, which resulted in him being omitted from the starting lineup.

Unfortunately, Kiwior is yet to justify his transfer to Arsenal. For a side with ambitions of winning the Premier League title, they must have the standards of Premier League winners. Therefore, it is no surprise to see Jakub Kiwior considered as a makeweight to sign Riccardo Calafiori.

What would you rate Jakub Kiwior's time at Arsenal so far out of ten?
