Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool close in on Arsenal transfer dream
By Kian Long
Arsenal's transfer window has appeared pretty slow. They have got deals over the line, but it wasn't as fast-paced as the last summer transfer window. Still, this can only mean one thing as far as Arsenal fans are away - Edu's summer cook-out will be in full swing in the coming weeks, before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
Unfortunately, though, they can almost kiss goodbye to one transfer target... If he even was a transfer target, in the first place.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool close in on Arsenal transfer dream
According to an update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano's daily briefing, Arsenal look set to miss out on Martin Zubimendi. Liverpool are confident they can get a deal over the line for the midfielder, despite there still being work to be done. Romano did also claim that Arsenal were never involved in negotiations, so their interest level is difficult to truly tell.
Martin Zubimendi has been a long-term Arsenal transfer target. However, given their rumoured pursuit of Mikel Merino, who Mikel Arteta seems to value over other contenders, they may not have been as interested in Zubimendi this summer, as they perhaps were in previous windows.
Whenever Mikel Arteta actively tries to sign a player, there is a growing sense that "what Mikel wants, Mikel gets." Obviously, this is a great feeling for Arsenal fans, but they must be wary of the news they consume.
Between now and the end of the window, transfer deals will naturally happen at a faster rate. The summer transfer window closes on August 30 at 11:30pm BST. Therefore, by this stage, Arsenal are likely to have their transfer plans before the end of the window outlined to the detail.
Who do you think Arsenal will sign before the summer transfer window ends?
