Arsenal returned to winning ways with a 5-0 thumping over Crystal Palace, with Leandro Trossard breaking his goalscoring drought in the process.

We deemed it a must-win for Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta's team played like it meant more than three points. The 5-0 win over Crystal Palace snapped the Gunners' three-game losing streak in all competitions as their goalscoring woes were put in the rearview mirror.

While the first-half wasn't one for the record books, Arsenal clicked into gear in the second, scoring three goals - one of which was from Leandro Trossard.

Having not been on the scoresheet since Arsenal's 3-1 win over Burnley on November 11, Trossard was on the end of a sweeping counter-attack as David Raya found Gabriel Jesus, and the Brazilian found Trossard, who took a touch around a defender and slotted home to end the game as a contest.

“That’s how we wanted to start again in the league," Trossard said on the win via arsenal.com. "After the little break, everyone was fresh again, you could see we were so hungry from the start, and we wanted to score goals. Obviously, it’s really nice that we got the clean sheet as well, so it’s a perfect performance for us."

The Gunners were in danger of losing touch with league leaders Liverpool but put on a clinic to not only claim three points but also considerably help the goal difference.

With it now marking a full year since Trossard swapped Brighton for north London, the Belgian was a revelation last season, but has seen his form dip this campaign. In the league, Trossard has completed 90 minutes just twice as he has been used off the bench by Arteta.

Still, the Belgian is still happy with how his first year as a Gunner has gone.

“It’s been a great year for me - everything I could wish for," Trossard said. "Obviously, at the end of last season, the perfect way to end it would have been to win the league, but in general, it’s been great for me. We’re through to the Champions League as well into the next rounds, and I enjoy it a lot with the lads as well, it’s a great team.”

After a nice break in Dubai, Arsenal came back with a hunger not seen in a while and was rewarded with a superb performance.

But now, the team must sit on its hands as they aren't in action until January 31st when they travel to face Nottingham Forest...not that Trossard is complaining.
