Inefficiency was the early story of our campaign and, despite signs of improvement, recent encounters suggest it could rear its ugly head again on Saturday.

The numbers tell a different story in some ways, with Arsenal notching 35 strikes in their first 17 games and ranking joint fourth for goals scored this season, just five fewer than the league’s most prolific outfit (Manchester City).

However, recent matches against Brighton, Wolves and Aston Villa illustrated how the Gunners are not registering the figures that both their rate and quality of chance creation merit - something which could easily come back to haunt us in tight contests.

It may be much ado about nothing as every team squanders chances, and the improved fluidity in our attacking play with Gabriel Jesus offers us plenty of encouragement. But even he is known to be wasteful up top, and any offensive struggles will no doubt be ruthlessly punished by a home side bruised after last week's stalemate with Manchester United.

We certainly possess the firepower to beat Liverpool, we just need to make it count.
