Arsenal kept their title hopes alive as they secured a rare victory at Old Trafford, beating Manchester United 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners took on a United side without talisman Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, who has a great record against Arsenal, but it quickly became clear that this would not be a walk in the park for the visitors - despite the confidence of some supporters.

While the Gunners limited the hosts in terms of chances, a lethargic press and uncharacteristic errors in possession allowed United to get a foothold in the game.

However, it was Arsenal who took the lead through Leandro Trossard after Kai Havertz, kept onside by the lazy Casemiro, picked him out in the box. The visitors had their best spell of the first half in the aftermath, although Andre Onana wasn't worked.

Despite the advantage. Mikel Arteta undoubtedly would've had concerns as the teams re-emerged for the second half. Arsenal enjoyed bright spurts after the restart, but a litany of sub-par individual displays meant they suffered as a collective. There were times when Man Utd had sequences of sustained pressure, but the visitors' block was typically stubborn.

United huffed and puffed, but David Raya remained untested. Arsenal, meanwhile, boasted a greater threat on the counter following Gabriel Martinelli's introduction. The Brazilian forced Andre Onana into a fine save with 15 minutes remaining. With the lead so slender, a nervy finish ensued given the circumstances, but other than the odd thrust from Alejandro Garnacho, United struggled to penetrate Arsenal's sturdy backline.

As a result, the Gunners, who performed poorly, held on and secured a big win in Manchester which saw them return to the top of the Premier League table.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

David Raya (GK) - 6/10 - Aided by Arsenal's defensive security and the absence of United's two key attackers, Raya was barely worked in this one.

Ben White (RB) - 6/10 - Initially kept Alejandro Garnacho in check, but the Argentine had more joy against White as the game went on.

William Saliba (CB) - 8/10 - Another stellar big-game performance from the young Frenchman. Saliba made a crucial tackle to deny a charging Garnacho midway through the second half.

Gabriel (CB) - 7/10 - There were no standout defensive sequences, but Gabriel did a good job of taming Rasmus Hojlund in the channel.

Takehiro Tomiyasu (LB) - 6.5/10 - Amad Diallo was bright for the hosts, but he rarely scampered past Tomiyasu. This was a typically sturdy showing from the Japanese international, even if he offered little in possession.
