Arsenal and Manchester City are two of the main figureheads in this chapter of the Premier League. The two clubs are strikingly similar, which is massively aided by Mikel Arteta learning under Pep Guardiola for three years and change. Since being appointed as head coach at Arsenal, Arteta has brought two former Man City players to the Emirates Stadium.

In 2022, he signed Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus. Both of those players had their own imprint on the title race last season but as far as Mikel Arteta is concerned, this isn't satisfactory. He wants more firepower from Man City and he wants it sooner rather than later.

According to Sport, Barcelona can only afford to loan out Joao Cancelo again, rather than signing him permanently at this stage. It remains to be seen Man City's stance on this, but they are unlikely to accept this offer if an increased offer is given by another club, even a direct Premier League rival.

The report mentions Arsenal as a linked club, with Man City believing they could secure almost double Barcelona's measly offer of €25m.

Joao Cancelo is an excellent full-back who boasts impressive Premier League experience. The Portugal international has won the Premier League three times, so he would be an excellent addition to the ambitious Arsenal ranks, reuniting with two of his former teammates and assistant manager.

Cancelo's contract at Manchester City runs out in 2027. Therefore, the Citizens are in no rush to sort out his long-term future. However, Arsenal clearly have the money to spend, particularly if they go on to win any of the major trophies between now and the end of the season. After all, they bankrolled in January, not making any signings.
