How can one improve on a 31-3 aggregate scoreline in 2024? This is the impossible task which Mikel Arteta has as he's adapting his Arsenal transfer strategy for the summer transfer window. Don't get me wrong, there are much worse problems to have, as long-term Arsenal fans know all too well.

Well, everybody on the planet said that to win the title, Arsenal must buy a top striker. This Michael Owen-level analysis slowly drowned out at the turn of the calendar year, when Arsenal started to fire on all cylinders. Thankfully, though, Mikel Arteta isn't letting the recent flurry of goals cloud his judgement as he will work closely with Edu Gaspar to bring in the best players this summer.

Mikel Arteta hints at the biggest Arsenal transfer priority this summer

As per ESPN, the Arsenal transfer strategy has remained untouched since the start of the season. Mikel Arteta has addressed the summer transfer window and he claimed that the recent attacking prowess displayed by his players has not changed his mind about the type of player he wishes to bring in.

In his own words, Arteta said: "The plans that we have for the summer are very clear, they were done almost at the start of the season understanding what we can have, the contract situations with some players, and how we can improve certain areas of the team. This situation doesn't change that."

This is great news for Arsenal fans. The hole in the squad remains that Arsenal do not have a clear focal point in their attack. Well, not a world-class option anyway.

Gabriel Jesus is not an out-and-out striker and he is very injury prone. Eddie Nketiah is not up to the standard to start as a title contending striker.

Therefore, while the Gunners are doing a great job at picking up goals from all over the pitch, they are over-performing their xG by a long-shot (if you pardon the pun). This is not sustainable in the long-run. Therefore, they need to bring in a clinical striker.
