Arsenal will be active in the summer transfer window. If the last few years are anything to go by, then Mikel Arteta is keen to add his finishing touches to this near-perfect Arsenal team. With just a few positions left to fill, exciting times are ahead for Arsenal fans.
To compete with the best, Mikel Arteta has to sign from the best. He has already completed his shopping list from Man City so now he would like to move to the best team in the world, Real Madrid.
Mikel Arteta makes a promise to Real Madrid star amid Arsenal transfer
According to reports in Spain (h/t Football365), Mikel Arteta has "promised" Rodrygo that he would be at the forefront of Arsenal's new execution plan, should he leave Real Madrid this summer. It is believed that Rodrygo could contemplate his future going forward, with the arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick throwing a spanner into the Real Madrid works.
Last season, Rodrygo scored 17 goals across all competitions for Real Madrid. Despite being in the shadow of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo proved himself to be a threat and he made a name for himself.
For Arsenal, this is a golden opportunity. With Rodyrgo contemplating his future at a domestic level, he would certainly fit the bill at the Emirates Stadium. Despite being versatile, Rodrygo's best position is as a centre forward, proven by his goal-scoring record last season.
It remains to be seen what Mikel Arteta's plan is to integrate Rodrygo but the Brazil international has played pretty well in a striker partnership alongside Vinicius. Therefore, Arteta could have the same thing in mind at Arsenal, but alongside Kai Havertz.
Indeed, it was revealed last week that Mikel Arteta values Kai Havertz as Arsenal's centre forward and he plans to approach the 2024/25 season with Havertz as the striker. There is nothing stopping Arsenal from playing a strike partnership, which is coming back into fashion for good reason.
