According to a report from TEAMTALK, Mikel Arteta has identified his "top target for the summer" as Amadou Onana, the in-demand midfielder from Everton.

The colossal Everton midfielder is a joy to watch and the perfect midfielder to come into this Mikel Arteta system - Why? Because he loves to win DUELS! Some would even say he's upset if he doesn't win them...

Jokes aside, it's easy to see why Arsenal are targeting Amadou Onana, but they won't be short of competition. In fact, most teams in the Premier League would jump at the chance to sign him, and Barcelona have even shown their interest.

It is stated within the report that Everton will ask for around £80m, which is an incredibly steep fee but it's understandable given their financial situation and the heavy interest which he has accumulated. Besides, with Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo both moving last summer for incredible fees, it's understandable that the market for midfielders is inflated.

Speaking of Declan Rice, it's scary to imagine a midfield partnership of him and Onana. When you partner these two and then factor in the free-roaming creativity of Martin Odegaard, the balance in the midfield for Arsenal next season could be a dream come true. It all depends on whether Edu aligns with Everton's value of Onana.
