#1: Martin Odegaard - Loan, £31.5m (from Real Madrid)
Odegaard had been on the footballing scene for what felt like an age before joining Arsenal, despite being just 22 years old at the time of his initial arrival in north London - which saw him brought in on loan from Spanish giants Real Madrid in January 2021.
The Norwegian international showed some encouraging signs during his six-month loan with us, but struggled to find a regular starting place in the team and amassed just a single goal and two assists from 14 appearances and nine starts in the 2020/21 Premier League season.
Despite this, Arteta, Edu Gaspar and co. opted to sign him permanently the following summer, and he went on to secure double figures for goals and assists in the 2021/22 season. His output has increased exponentially since then, with him achieving 15 goals and seven assists in the league last season.
Now our club captain and a critical creative force in our team, linking the midfield to the attack, it is undeniable that his signing has been an unbelievable one for the club, and one that has helped to mould our entire team and lead us to the success of recent years - including last season's title charge.
His ability is unquestionable, as well as the character and leadership that he offers and this, alongside his exceptionally great value price make him, in my opinion, the best signing made by Arteta during his time at the club.
