Porto 1-0 Arsenal: Player ratings from Gunners' shock Champions League defeat
• Rice controlled midfield
• Saka the offensive danger
By Jak Netting
Arsenal left themselves with a deficit to overturn in the second leg after conceding a devastatingly late goal away to Porto on their UEFA Champions League knockout stage return.
The first half offered no thrills and, despite Arsenal controlling proceedings, it was Wenderson Galeno who came the closest to a goal after seeing an effort in the 21st minute rattle the far post before hie struck his follow-up effort wide.
The second half offered much of the same, with Arsenal in control but unable to create any meaningful chances, as they looked, and failed, to exploit set pieces as they had done so well at in recent games before tonight.
But a devastating late sucker punch saw Porto steal a win after a thunderous long-range effort from Galeno, who seemingly caught David Raya unaware and was unable to keep the Brazilian's effort out.
Porto 1-0 Arsenal: Player ratings from Gunners' shock Champions League defeat
Here are the player ratings.
Goalkeeper & Defenders
David Raya (GK) - 5/10 - Raya had little to do in the game and largely looked like a calm and commanding force in goal. Despite this, he left a lot to be desired in Porto's late winner which leaves a rather sour taste over his performance.
Ben White (RB) - 6/10 - Ben White also did not have too much involvement in the game, but the Englishman was an important asset from corners as he wreaked havoc in the penalty area, a key part of Arsenal's set-piece tactics.
William Saliba (CB) - 5/10 - Saliba was not his usual self against Porto and will want to quickly put this performance behind him. The Frenchman looked unusually nervous and shaky, especially throughout the first half. The entire defence looked more nervous with his subdued performance, which was a real weak point for the team.
Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) - 6/10 - He did not have much to do in the game, for the most part, but Gabriel gave a good account of himself and offered some solidity while his defensive partner suffered an off day, which was a big boost for the side. While he missed a good chance late in the game, there can be no real complaints with the Brazilian's performance.
Jakub Kiwior (LB) - 6/10 - Kiwior did not leave much of a mark on the game, but equally did not do much wrong despite the Gunners losing late on.
