3. Cover for David Raya
Arguably the primary reason behind Neto's signing is, of course, for well-needed first-team cover. David Raya has displayed an immaculate injury record in the past in fairness, but cover is a necessity, especially when considering the plethora of fronts Arsenal are expected to be fighting from this season.
Neto has featured on 61 occasions in the English top-flight altogether, including 32 last term. Despite playing behind a significantly weaker defence, the Brazilian helped his side to seven clean sheets - equalling Tottenham's first-choice, Gugliermo Vicario, and just one behind Alisson of Liverpool and Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa. That's some good company to be holding.
Furthermore, his save percentage last term of 67.6% bettered several opposition keepers including Vicario, Martinez and even Raya himself.
Of course, it is clear who remains the first-choice, but Neto as cover is certainly acceptable and it wouldn't be an issue if he were asked to start in place of Raya.
