Fabio Vieira signed for Arsenal in 2022 out of the blue, with the playmaker's potential providing excitement for Gunners supporters. But, he has failed to even come close to emulating his namesake, Patrick. As a result, the Gunners face a dilemma over what to do with the midfielder.

The former Portugal youth international had a decent debut season with the Gunners, scoring two goals and providing six assists in 33 appearances. However, he had an underwhelming second season at the club as a result of injuries and a lack of game time. Vieira scored a penalty and provided three assists in 16 appearances.

Having had a relatively poor time with Arsenal so far, the question must be asked what the club should do with Fabio Vieira.

Having remained on the bench for the majority of this season when available, it looks unlikely that Fabio Vieira is going to be given a chance to play regular first team football for Arsenal.

The brilliance the Gunners possess in midfield is far too good to pick apart in order to give Vieira some serious game time.

Many have deemed Vieira not to be up to the physicality standards of the Premier League so this certainly does not help his case for staying at Arsenal.

Vieira is no doubt a talented player having shown glimpses of his abilty at times since joining the Gunners. He had a decent pre-season, scoring a stunning goal against Barcelona and netting penalties in shootouts against Monaco and Manchester City, the latter of which won his side the FA Community Shield.

Despite this, Mikel Arteta doesn't seem to believe Vieira is good enough to play for the team. The Spaniard kept the midfielder on the bench 13 times in the 2023/24 Premier League season, including for the last four games of the campaign.

With the Gunners rumoured to be looking for a new midfielder this summer, Vieira's chances of making it at the club seem to be dwindling even further.

Ideally, Arsenal should loan Fabio Vieira out this summer with the prospect of selling him on next year. He is currently valued at €22m so a sale in the upcoming transfer window would most likely mean a loss of money for the club.

A loan move could boost Vieira's value and allow Arsenal to cash in next summer. As a result, a temporary move away before a permanent departure seems like the best solution for both Arsenal and Fabio Vieira.
