Who is the highest paid player at Arsenal?
By Kian Long
Arsenal have never been known as the type of club to spend over the odds on players. In fact, quite the opposite is true, since they are more frugal than many of their Premier League rivals.
Sometimes, this has been to Arsenal's detriment. Particularly in the Arsene Wenger era, the Gunners would occasionally miss out on signing players due to not meeting their financial demands.
In fairness, this has somewhat changed in recent seasons. In fact, in the summer of 2023, Arsenal broke the £100m threshold for the first time in the club's history, making Declan Rice their record signing.
With that being said, where does record signing Declan Rice rank among the highest paid Arsenal players as things stand?
Who is the highest paid player at Arsenal?
1. Kai Havertz (£280,000 per week)
The highest paid player at Arsenal is Kai Havertz, who earns £280,000 per week (£14,560,000 per year) before bonuses. In addition, Kai Havertz could earn £2,600,000 in additional yearly bonuses.
Kai Havertz was signed from Chelsea in the summer of 2023. It took the former Chelsea player time to adjust to his new North London surroundings but he has established himself as a mainstay under Mikel Arteta.
In his first season, Kai Havertz was Arsenal's second highest goal-scorer in the Premier League, scoring an impressive 13 goals. Nowadays, he is the main choice striker under Mikel Arteta.
The current deal which Kai Havertz is penned to expires in the summer of 2028.
2. Gabriel Jesus (£265,000 per week)
The second highest paid player at Arsenal is Gabriel Jesus. The Brazil international earns £265,000 per week, which equates to a yearly £13,780,000 salary. In his current deal, Gabriel Jesus does not earn bonuses.
Gabriel Jesus joined Arsenal from Man City in 2022. The former Man City striker was seen as a revolutionary signing for Arsenal, instantly adding more flair to the attack which Mikel Arteta was building.
However, Gabriel Jesus' time at Arsenal has unfortunately been tormented by injuries. The most significant injury came in his first season, where Jesus missed the middle of the season.
Gabriel Jesus' current deal at Arsenal expires in the summer of 2027.
3. Martin Ødegaard (£240,000 per week)
Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard is the third highest paid player at Arsenal. The Norwegian skipper earns £240,000 per week, which equates to an annual salary of £12,480,000 before bonuses. Ødegaard has the potential for a yearly bonus amount of £3,120,000.
Martin Ødegaard joined Arsenal permanently in 2021, after a successful loan spell from Real Madrid. He has continually impressed manager Mikel Arteta, hence the decision to make him club captain.
Arsenal certainly took a punt with Martin Ødegaard, after the Spanish media dubbed him as an under-achiever with Real Madrid. However, he will have no regrets, playing at the top of his game in North London.
Martin Ødegaard is under contract at Arsenal until 2028 summer, after penning a new deal in 2023.
4. Declan Rice (£240,000 per week)
The fourth highest paid player at Arsenal is Declan Rice. The club-record signing earns £240,000 per week, which is an annual salary of (£12,480,000). Declan Rice currently earns no bonuses at Arsenal.
Declan Rice became the most expensive signing Arsenal had ever made, when he joined from West Ham United in 2023. The England international had a transfer fee of £105m.
In his first season, Declan Rice more than justified his price tag, becoming a pivotal member of the Mikel Arteta revolution. As the chant goes "Declan Rice, we got him half price."
Declan Rice is under contract at Arsenal until the summer of 2028.
5. Thomas Partey (£200,000 per week)
The fifth highest paid player at Arsenal is Thomas Partey. The Ghana international earns £200,000 per week, so an annual salary of £10,400,000. Thomas Partey does not currently earn bonuses.
Thomas Partey was signed by Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and it is the deal which he remains tied to.
Thomas Partey has been a solid midfielder for Arsenal. The investment paid dividends as he consistently put in good performances for the Gunners, whenever fit.
As things stand, Thomas Partey runs out of contract at Arsenal in the summer of 2025.
