Sunday's duel with Manchester City may not be the title shootout many would've projected in the aftermath of their drama-laden September duel, but the bout could have ramifications aplenty at the Premier League's summit.

The perennial champions aren't in the hunt following a woeful conclusion to 2024 and are aiming to disrupt the Gunners' challenge at the Emirates this weekend.

Mikel Arteta's side are unbeaten in four games against Pep Guardiola's side and can secure a statement triumph this weekend - one capable of swinging the title race in Arsenal's favour.

The club's injury situation is unlikely to change in time for City's visit, so here's the team we think Arteta will pick on Sunday.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

David Raya (GK) - Arteta may have said Raya wasn't fit to play on Wednesday, but there's absolutely no chance he's not starting in goal against City. Put your house on it.

Jurrien Timber (RB) - Timber deserves immense credit for the work he's put in over the past few months in Ben White's absence, crucially staying fit. The duel with Savinho should be tasty.

William Saliba (CB) - The Frenchman got the night off on Wednesday, and there were no signs of the hamstring bothering him against Wolves. He should be fresh for Sunday.

Gabriel (CB) - Another 90 banked for Gabriel, who surely has to be regarded as the best signing of the Mikel Arteta era. The Brazilian and his formidable partner match-up against Erling Haaland this weekend having previously tamed the Nordic forward in north London.

Myles Lewis-Skelly (LB) - Ban overturned. Lewis-Skelly's good to go. He deserves to retain his place over Riccardo Calafiori despite last week's red card.

Midfielders

Thomas Partey (DM) - There were more issues at right-back in the week, but I think Arteta keeps Partey in the team at the base of midfield here. City are not the midfield force they once were.

Declan Rice (CM) - Rice has been in superb form over the past couple of months and will be key to Arsenal acheiving midfield control in Rodri's absence.

Martin Odegaard (CM) - The skipper's a shoo-in, but Ethan Nwaneri is lurking, folks.

Forwards

Gabriel Martinelli (RW) - I think Nwaneri will be used off the bench here despite his performance in midweek. Martinelli is a necessary inclusion for his speed in transition against a City team that cannot stop the counter-attack.

Kai Havertz (ST) - The German earned a much needed breather on Wednesday, but he did still feature off the bench. Havertz's first competitive appearance for the Gunners came as a striker against the Cityzens.

Leandro Trossard (LW) - Trossard will have a chip on his shoulder on Sunday given what happened in the reverse fixture. The Belgian has impressed in 2025 and was hauled off in midweek before he could pick up a knock.
