Mikel Arteta at least supplied positive injury updates in the build-up to Saturday's trip to Wolves. That's something, right?
The boss has tried his best not to make his frustrations clear over Arsenal's transfer inactivity in recent press conferences, but the Spaniard looks to be on the brink. The Gunners need bodies in forward areas if their to sustain any sort of challenge on multiple fronts down the stretch.
One reported target, Matheus Cunha, is poised to be in action against Arteta's side this weekend as we visit Molineux. Wolves, in short, aren't very good no matter who's in charge, and anything but three points would be devastating.
Here's how Arsenal could line up this weekend.
Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Wolves
Goalkeeper & Defenders
David Raya (GK) - There's been many a game this season where Raya simply hasn't been required, and that was the case again on Wednesday. A talented Wolves attack may test the Spaniard at Molineux.
Jurrien Timber (RB) - Respite is just around the corner, Jurrien! Ben White is closing in on a comeback, but he's not there yet. So, we'll see the Timber in the starting XI again.
William Saliba (CB) - Arteta has suggested that Saliba has recovered from a minor hamstring injury, and I expect him to come straight back into the team after missing two games.
Gabriel (CB) - I think Gabriel will be well aware that he's up against the worst team in the Premier League at defending set-pieces on Saturday.
Riccardo Calafiori (LB) - Myles Lewis-Skelly has avoided a major knee injury and could be involved here. However, with Calafiori returning to the matchday squad last week, he may get a run out here. The Italian impressed on his previous appearance at Brighton.
Midfielders
Thomas Partey (DM) - We hopefully won't be seeing Partey at right-back anymore. Full stop. Jorginho played well in the week, but Arteta likes the Ghanaian and may well bring him back into his engine room at Molineux.
Declan Rice (CM) - Rice is in a rich vein of form, rediscovering the momentum which saw him gain great acclaim in year one. He's been threatening a goal for weeks before striking early on against Dinamo Zagreb.
Martin Odegaard (CM) - Let's hope Odegaard's finish in midweek dashes the cobwebs and allows the skipper to move through the gears. We haven't seen the very best iteration of the skipper manifest since he returned from an ankle injury in November.
Forwards
Gabriel Martinelli (RW) - Raheem Sterling's midweek struggles point towards another tinkering in the frontline. Martinelli was excellent on the opposite flank, but scored from the right last weekend.
Kai Havertz (ST) - The German got Arsenal's 2024/25 season rolling with a header in the reverse fixture on the opening weekend of the campaign. Havertz has two in two heading into this one.
Leandro Trossard (LW) - The Belgian has started to step up again, and he deserves to return to the starting lineup after recording a pair of assists against Aston Villa.
