Predicting Arsenal's next 5 Premier League games - can they close the gap to Man City?

Arsenal almost had the perfect start to the season, as they won their first four games. However, after losing 3-0 to Brighton, they now trail rivals Manchester City, who sit three points ahead.

The Gunners will return from the international break on October 10 with a game against Leeds United, before then facing Nottingham Forest, Everton, Liverpool and Hull City in what is a favourable run of fixtures for Mikel Arteta's side.

With Man City facing the likes of Liverpool and Brighton in their next five games, it could provide the Gunners with a chance to catch up. We decided to predict Arsenal's next five results, and this was the outcome...

Arsenal vs Leeds United - WIN

The Leeds game after the break won't be an easy test as Daniel Farke's side are currently fifth in the table and unbeaten so far in the Premier League. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will test the Arsenal defence, and the Gunners could have trouble breaching a Leeds defence which has conceded the joint-fewest goals in the league.

However, the Gunners should have too much quality for Farke's side, especially seeing as they're almost unbreakable at home, but it could be slightly too close for comfort.

Score prediction - Arsenal 2-1 Leeds United

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal - DRAW

So far this season, Leeds have been better than Forest, but with the way that Oliver Glasner's side play, this could be difficult for the Gunners. They play a counter-attacking style which means for the most part, Arsenal will be trying to break down a low block.

With Morgan Gibbs-White on fire at the moment, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Glasner's side catch the Gunners on the break, especially in a hostile City Ground. Arsenal will of course be favoured here, but it could prove to be a test.

Arsenal vs Everton - WIN

Any David Moyes side is always a tough game, but despite Everton's solid start to the season, the Gunners should get all three points here. The Toffees have only scored six goals so far, which is the sixth-fewest in the league.

Couple their struggle to find goals with Arsenal's elite defence and this should be a comfortable win at the Emirates for Arteta's side.

Liverpool vs Arsenal - DRAW

Last season, the Gunners failed to beat Liverpool in two meetings, including a 1-0 defeat at Anfield in August. Under new management, the Reds have shown signs of improving, but Andoni Iraola still has plenty of work to do.

Seeing as the game is at Anfield, Liverpool should have more of a chance, and as they are also unbeaten, it would be a fantastic result for Arsenal to get all three points; It's certainly possible, but we're airing on the side of caution here.

Arsenal vs Hull City - WIN

The simulation had to end for Hull at some point after they beat Man United and drew to Aston Villa and Chelsea, and it did in their last game, as Newcastle beat them 2-1 at St James' Park.

Credit to Hull, they've taken everyone by surprise, sitting on eight points from five games, but they don't have enough to overly trouble the Arsenal attack, and the Gunners should be able to comfortably break them down even in a low block.

Score prediction - Arsenal 2-0 Hull City

That would leave Arsenal on 23 points after 10 Premier League games. If (in this scenario) Arsenal want to leapfrog Man City, it would mean City getting eight points from their next five games. But if they drop points against Liverpool and Brighton, then the Gunners could head into the next international break at the top of the table.
