Arsenal eased into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with a dominant 3-0 victory away to Preston.

Ethan Nwaneri was given a start while summer signing Tommy Setford was handed his debut in goal. Jorginho led the side out as captain with Martin Odegaard still absent.

The Gunners dominated from kick-off and were rewarded 25 minutes in when Gabriel Jesus netted the opener with a well taken half-volley.

It didn't take long for Mikel Arteta's side to double their lead as eight minutes later, Nwaneri struck a beautiful curling effort into the top corner to score his third senior goal for the club. Arsenal went into half-time with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

12 minutes into the second half, substitute Kai Havertz got his head on the end of a sublime cross from Jakub Kiwior to net a third for his side.

The hosts improved late on and put some pressure on the Gunners but could not break through as Arteta's side held out to keep a clean sheet.

It was a great overall team performance from Arsenal as they cruised to a well deserved victory against Preston.

Here are the Arsenal player ratings from Wednesday's Carabao Cup win.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Tommy Setford (GK) - 6/10 - Forced to make a save late in the second but was rarely tested throughout. Looked composed when on the ball but his positioning was questionable at times. Overall, a relatively comfortable debut between the sticks.

Jurrien Timber (RB) - 7/10 - Continued at right-back despite injury fears. Got up the pitch well and constantly made himself an option. Did not have to do much at the back and was taken off at the halfway point.

William Saliba (CB) - 7/10 - Rarely troubled at the back and did his job well when required. Solid domestic return for the Frenchman.

Jakub Kiwior (CB) - 8/10 - Took the lack of defensive requirements as a good opportunity to get up the pitch. Assisted the opener and played a brilliant cross for Havertz to head in the third. Drifted out to left back throughout and did well overall.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB) - 7/10 - Back in the team and looked good as he drifted into midfield. Had plenty of involvement and linked up with his teammates well. Replaced with just under half an hour remaining.
