Reiss Nelson attracting overseas interest amid expected Arsenal exit

Reiss Nelson is attracting interest from overseas clubs ahead of an expected exit from Arsenal this summer, according to Sami Mokbel.

The Hale End graduate is likely to leave his boyhood club during the transfer window with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season.

The Gunners won't be afraid to sanction a sale given Nelson's lack of contribution in recent years and will be hoping to receive a decent fee for his services with a number of sides interested in signing him.

Benfica and Valencia are reported to be among the clubs monitoring Nelson's situation while he is also attracting interest from the Premier League, including former loan club Fulham.

He is said to have already rejected some interest from clubs in the English top flight and is open to making the move abroad as he looks to reignite his career.

Nelson has spent the last two years on loan in West London, playing for Fulham in the 2024/25 campaign and Brentford in the 2025/26 season, but his impact for both sides was incredibly minimal.

The winger made 12 appearances for the Cottagers, scoring two goals and providing one assist, while his output was similar for their arch-rivals. He netted once and assisted two in 14 games for the Bees.

His time at Craven Cottage was plagued by injuries, but his season with Brentford saw him sit on the bench a number of times, missing a handful of matches due to illness and knocks.

Nelson first broke into the Arsenal first team in the 2017/18 season and was regarded as one of Hale End's hottest prospects, but he has failed to reach the heights his career was predicted to hit.

Failure to secure a consistent spot in the team under Mikel Arteta has seen him make just 90 appearances in nine years for the Gunners, scoring just eight goals and providing nine assists.

The highlight of his Arsenal career came during the 2022/23 campaign when he was brought off the bench with his side 2-0 down at home to Bournemouth. He assisted Ben White's equalising goal before striking from the edge of the box to complete a dramatic turnaround and win the game for his side in the 97th minute.

Despite being given multiple chances, he has never quite managed to cut it for Arteta's high expectations and with his side going into next season as the Premier League's defending champions, it is highly unlikely he will have any involvement, despite reporting back from pre-season duty.

Nelson will likely move on from the Gunners this summer and fans will be pleased to see him attracting plenty of interest as the club look to receive a good fee for his sale.
